The very first thing to know about shopping for a satellite navigation is the magic chip by Raytheon does the calculating to determine your location. All satellite navigation works this way basically. Even the most expensive of units use this chip so it’s not this technology that determines the prices, it the extras which some brands of satellite navigation units offer. Every GPS unit on the market processes information the same way.
What determines accuracy is the way the information is overlayed on a map. If you use the highly accurate navteq navigation maps, you will know exactly where you are, or rather the chip will. You can’t gt where you’re going without an accurate mapping system, no matter what brand of GPS unit is in your car. Don’t buy into the fact that brand of satellite navigation is more accurate than another, it’s not. It’s the maps that are accurate or not. Navteq navigation maps are accurate even when put into the least expensive unit.
The biggest difference between satellite navigation units is the viewing screen. Since this is a graphics device, the screen can make a world of difference. If you learn what’s important, you’ll be be on your way to joining the satellite navigation revolution with the best possible information.
